Bullying

Bullying is a serious issue and far too many young people are forced to deal with it. If you’re a victim of bullying and need help now, check out these hotlines or other resources right here in Missouri. We’ve gathered some resources here for students, parents, and teachers alike. Learn and make a difference and know that it gets better!

Coming out

Coming out is the process of figuring yourself out and then choosing if, when, where, and how you’ll share that with others. For some of us, it can feel like the single most difficult thing we’ll ever do. For others, it’s no problem at all.

It can be confusing, scary, and difficult. It can also be exhilarating, freeing, and the best thing you’ve ever done for yourself.

No matter where you are in the process, check out some of these stories, tools, and connections to help you with this big decision.

Healthy Relationships

Being in a relationship can give us so much – support and comfort, a person to laugh with, and even a life shared with another person. But it can be difficult to tell when a relationship goes from healthy to unhealthy.

Check out these resources for help on everything from building a great foundation in a relationship to getting out of an abusive relationship and everything in between. Need help right now? Call a crisis line.

Trans*Health

Our goal is to ensure that all of us in the LGBTQ community are connected with comprehensive and affirming health care and resources. As trans*people, we have unique health needs and experiences that are sometimes different than those of LGB folks. While we’re not providing direct services here at OPAH, we are here to connect you with the people, places and resources you need as a trans*person. Check out the links below to learn more about particular health issues facing trans*people, finding safe healthcare options, and transition related care.

Mental Health

Roughly 1 in 4 Americans experience mental illness in a given year and many people struggling with their mental health do not seek support.  Dealing with mental illness is often challenging, but taking charge and making changes to help your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health.

Here at OPAH, we want you to be healthy inside and out. So, while you’re taking those extra steps to get your body healthy, check out some of these resources to help with the brain side of things.

Connecting with Others

We love our people – and that means you!

The LGBTQ community’s very roots are in creating connections between people and communities. We are our strongest when we build a solid foundation of people to connect with and there are lots of great ways to get out and connect with your community. Check out these organizations and community calendars for your next great opportunity to get OUT in Missouri!
