Community Resources: activism

We bolster the strength of local LGBT activism in rural enclaves, small towns and cities nationwide. We build grassroots political muscle at every level by training activists, strengthening the infrastructure of local and state allies and organizing broad-based campaigns creating public support for full equality of LGBT people.

School should be a place where every student is safe to learn, participate in extracurricular activities, and have fun with friends, classmates, and teammates. But students who are transgender, nonbinary, lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, or intersex still face discrimination, bullying, and harassment at school because of who they are. If you are a student who is LGBTQI+, we want you to know that the organizations represented on this website and many others, as well as your federal government, have your back.

We identify LGBT rights supporters, educate them on the issues, give them the tools and the confidence to participate in the political process, and get results. PROMO’s goals are to help LGBT Missourians create a supportive and visible community, become active in the democratic process, and work for their equal protection under the law. We build community awareness and grassroots support for LGBT equality and increase civic participation of LGBT Missourians.

We are a national network of Old Lesbians over age 60 working to make life better for Old Lesbians through support networks and by confronting ageism in our communities and our country using education and public discourse as primary tools. Our national organization is directed by a Steering Committee that works to form and support local groups who will work in their own communities. We believe that we have a great deal of wisdom, experience and strength to share with our communities as well as among ourselves.

EQUAL is Kansas City’s for youth-by youth Gay Straight Alliance Network, connecting queer youth across the metropolitan area. EQUAL organizes an annual Empowerment Summit, National Coming Out Day and the Day of Silence.
